What is Upslope?

Upslope is an easy way to find and research learning resources like curriculum, apps, YouTube, kits, and more, that are personalized to your homeschool’s approach and your child’s learning needs. Right now, you can search, get personalized results, read summarized detail pages, and ask questions.

Who is it for?

Upslope is made specifically for homeschool parents like us. But our view is that if you teach your kids at home, you’re a homeschooler, and that non-full-time homeschool parents are welcome to use it too.

How are resources included?

We’ve curated every learning resource on Upslope and are adding more daily. We only include resources we would consider using ourselves. If you think we’re missing a good one, please feel free to reach out.

Why did we make it?

We made Upslope because we want to make homeschooling easier. After homeschooling our kids for six years, we believe that homeschooling is the most personalized form of education, and the best way to improve it is by empowering parents. We spent three years researching homeschooling before we actually got started, and we are continually on the lookout for high-quality learning resources. We hope this app can help a little bit.

What’s with the name Upslope?

The name Upslope comes from the famous lecture, A little bit of slope makes up for a lot of y-intercept by Professor John Ousterhout. The summary of the lesson is that long-term growth depends more on how quickly you learn than on how much you know at the start.
